Ginseng
Ginseng is the root of plants native to mountainous regions of Russian Far East, Northeast China, Korean Peninsula. The herb has a light-colored, forked-shaped root, a relatively long stalk, and green leaves in an oval shape. Ginseng contains two significant compounds: ginsenosides and gintonin. It is rich in Vitamins (B1, B2, B12, and C) and Minerals (N, K, P, Ca, and Mg)
Panax ginseng has various pharmacological effects, and the extract induces hair growth by means of a mechanism similar to that of minoxidil. Ginseng is believed to increase the dermal cells on the scalp which, in turn, strengthens the follicles and roots of the hair. This not only encourages the new growth of strands but also prevents hair thinning and breakage. Ginseng exhibits therapeutic potential for hair growth and preventing hair loss by preventing the apoptosis of dermal follicle papilla cells.
Ginsenosides have an anti-oxidation effect that alters the hair growth cycle and affects keratinocytes and dermal papilla growth. These active components act as reversal agents when it comes to the UV-ray exposure that causes hair weakening and loss. Additionally, their anti-aging properties are attributed to slowing down deterioration of collagen and increasing the natural production of hyaluronic acid.
